Blueprint808 is led by licensed architect Andrew Forman and supported by a small team of specialized experts all educated at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Andrew's career began with a decade of experience at Hawaii's largest architecture firm gaining design and management experience ranging from multi-million dollar hospitality and multi-family projects to custom single family homes. Seeking a more comprehensive understanding of construction after years focusing on architecture Andrew switched gears and gained first hand work experience in the complex world of general contracting.
The transition into the world of general-contracting was an exciting experience but left design to be desired. At this same time a relatively new hybrid form of project delivery called design-build was gaining popularity. With a specific focus on redefining the design and construction experience Blueprint808 blossomed from a small sole practitioner architecture service to Hawaii’s leading residential architecture firm. Awarded for four consecutive years as Hawaii Home and Remodeling “Reader's Choice Architecture Firm”; Blueprint808 specializes in custom home designs and is dedicated to improving how design and construction is completed in Hawaii.
Experienced architects agree that Schematic Design is likely the most important of all the phases as we define the program, style, budget and site considerations that will guide us throughout the rest of the process. At Blueprint808 through 4 carefully curated SD meetings we can generate a well thought out design and validate our budget to properly prepare us for Phase two.
While we focused on the overall composition of the home in Phase 1 in the DD phase we will spend 4 meetings focusing on the specifics of each space and specification. This additional level of detail will provide clarity to the design and bring the confidence that comes with actual contractor input related to costs, schedule and construction methods.
The Permits and Procurement phase is actually just a continuation of the former two phases. Over the course of the next four weeks our design model matures into a permit set that is routed through the city by the Blueprint team. During the time the city reviews the project our team will detail and specify the design so everything is prepared for the build as soon as our permit is approved.
To ensure all of our hard work completed during the design phase is seen to fruition. This fourth and final phase, known as Construction Administration, is a normal part of our services. Once in construction the integrated team will have built confidence they are on the same page and are working towards a common goal. Site visits, special inspections, product reviews, responding to design related questions, and assisting with contractor payment requests are all handled until the architectural designs are fully realized.
